I had downloaded the 5.25 edition of the UR Sim for non-Linux. But the only instructions I could find seem to be 5.15 vintage. The download, a rar file, was full of vmdk’s and one .vbox and one .vmx file.
But the current VirturalBox software seems to want .iso files for doing anything. I suspect part of this is VirturalBox has evolved but the UR Sim instructions have not.
Or can someone point me to the right place to get up to date of both the sim and instructions? Also wouldn’t make sense that the how to install the UR Sim would be on the same page as the download for the image file?
Thanks for that. Big help. Doing the open from VirturalBox and pointing at the extracted file set worked great. But that wasn’t in any of the directions I had found before.
Now to figure out how to get a program into and out of the sim. I’m looking at it for use in some college classes. Having the students able to work on programming at the computers instead of the tablets is my goal.
The programs are saved as .urp files in the ~/ursim-current/programs/ directory. If you run URSim in VMWare, you can just copy-paste directly between the file manager on the URSim and the host, though I haven’t managed to get that to work with VirtualBox (I haven’t tried very hard though). I personally just use scp, though you should be able to set up a VirtualBox shared folder which might be easier if you’re moving things around a lot.
