I am using a UR7e with a CB5.6 controller running PolyScope X 10.11.
For my research setup (ROS2, External Control, Robotiq 2F-85, and third-party integrations), I have found the user experience and compatibility on PolyScope X significantly more difficult than on PolyScope 5. Many existing tutorials, URCaps, and community resources are still centered around PolyScope 5.
Is it officially supported to downgrade a CB5.6 robot from PolyScope X 10.11 to PolyScope 5.26 LTS?
If so, what is the recommended procedure, and are there any known limitations or risks?
Procedure would be to start with a fresh SD card and mount the image. Nothing else is needed. I would suggest keeping the X sd card to be able to easily swap back and forth. From what I can tell, there is nothing stopping you from flopping back and forth. the robot just updates firmware every time you power on. I would suggest doing backups before switching just in case though
Doesn’t even need to be an SD Card, USB Stick works fine as well (but might require playing around with UEFI boot order (can’t remember details as I do such things in autopilot mode)
I tried this yesterday *(with a usb drive 16gb) and just gave me an infinite boot load screen… the initial message when it turns on says it’s loading polyscope 5 and then sits on universal robots screen with the circle as if it’s loading… I waited about 45 mins because I know the first boot can take a while but eventually gave up. What was I doing wrong you think?
