We have been trying to communicate directly to gauge,

And we came across a problem which is down to the universal robot only seeing 01-06 function codes

The Gauge uses 03 and 16 function codes.

Although we could some sort of communication from function code 03.
we would need function cod 16 to write to the device to send commands.

Could it possible in a future update allow the full range of function codes, or would that not be possible?

One solution meanwhile would be to use a small HMI like a Proface HMI (the 4.3" models are inexpensive). We use those all the time as a gateway and they can talk to just about anything with an Ethernet port.
