RG2 not working after updating poly scope

Hello everyone,

I am working with a UR5 (CB3.1 UR5) robot. Because the robot’s Teach Pendant (PolyScope) version was outdated, I upgraded it to the latest version, 3.15.8.

After installing a new URCap on the Teach Pendant, the system requested a restart. However, upon restarting, the initialization window indicated that the URCap was not installed, even though I could see OnRobot listed with a green checkmark in the active list. Additionally, the system displayed an “RG Configuration Missing URCap” error.

It appears that the OnRobot RG2 gripper is an older version (from 2018) and is connected directly to the UR5 robot without any intermediary connection. I also do not have the USB driver that came with the RG2 gripper. When attempting to download the RG2 driver, I only found options for different connection setups between the RG2 and the robot. Also, RG2’s LED flashing with red colour.

I would appreciate any advice on how to resolve this issue.

Thank you.

Not exactly your situation, but we have some 1st generation RG6 units that we generally don’t use except for testing (we use the Rev 2 units in production) on UR5e robots.
In order to use the older grippers, we have to use an older URCap - V1.10.1 works for us. Not sure how that translates to a CB3.1 unit, and haven’t tried it on the most recent Polyscope versions.

As dpeva says and you suspect yourself, you probably need the “latest” URCap.
Your gripper is a RG2 V1, and the URCap is not that easy to find on OnRobot’s website.

You must go in here to find the URCap for the old version of the RG2.
