Hi, I have a question.
How can I update the Universal Robots Polyscope software from version 5.11 to 5.15 or later?
I’m near the end of my project and considering the update because I need to use matrices or lists in URCap, which is quite difficult with the current version due to its limitations.
What are the advantages of updating, and are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of when moving from 5.11 to a newer version?
I consider the main issue for an upgrade is that you won’t be able to roll it back.
I think the main concern is whether it’s compatible with the MQTT package I have installed. If it simplifies programming compared to the previous version, then there’s no need to go back. Do you know how to update it? Do we need to purchase a license, or is it free to download and install? I couldn’t find an upload button in URCap.
Updating is free for everyone and is really simple.
- Download the latest update from this site: LATEST PolyScope Software Update - SW 5.22.1
- Put the .urup file on a USB
- Input the USB in the TP
- Go to System Settings → Update and search for updates
- Wait ~15 min for the update to be installed
What you should be aware of is that URCaps could stop working, if you do not update them, as well.
There’s also a lot of new safety features implemented since 5.11, but most can be disabled.
It should be possible to roll back the robot with a new image written to the memory card if all fails. ![]()
I don’t know about the MQTT.
