The version issue of UR7e

Why did my UR7e robotic arm downgrade from version 5.25.2 to version 5.12.7 or 5.12.8, and after the startup page loaded to 100% progress, it was unable to enter the main page?

Stay on this page all the time。

Rephrasing here - Why did you downgrade the robot?

I have seen issues before when someone installs older fw than the controller.

Is it stuck on the 100% screen? Then I would recommend reimaging the robot, to 5.26 or the latest 5.25.2 you have been running.

The robot cannot downgrade itself. Someone has either replaced the SD card with one from another robot or the whole controller.

And you will not be able to boot a UR7e with 5.12. The software does not support the new hardware.

Hello,
The mechanical arms I used before were all based on version 5.12.7. To maintain consistency in the versions, I now want to use version 5.12.7 for the UR7e as well. I saw in the release notice of version 5.12.7 that it mentioned UR7e, so it should be true that version 5.12.7 supports UR7e.

The release notice for version 5.12.7 contains information about UR7e.

Apparantly so, atleast if the serial istarts with 2025(or 2026) and the last digits are above 01002.

if the serial is as stated, you could try to reimage with 5.12.7 image. otherwise you need a more recent FW, it won’t harm anything.

The serial number of my robot arm is 312657xxxx, belonging to post-2026 units. I rebuilt the 5.12.7 image. On boot, the serial number configuration page does not show UR7e; only UR3, UR5, UR10 and UR16 are available.

Well. I’ll admit I didn’t know they added the UR7e of 2025 to the old LTS version. Though, as you point out yourself, your serial number is not supported by 5.12.7 LTS.

I think it might be because UR has released a new LTS version which is 5.26.1 LTS.

Thanks for your response, but there are still some issues I would like to raise.

I send the commands shown in the figure via port 30003 at 30 Hz. This works properly on versions 5.12.6 and 5.12.7. However, it does not function on the earlier version 5.21, as well as the current 5.25 and 5.26.1. The robot arm joints emit abnormal noises. The robot will go into fault if I apply a slightly larger force.

The purpose of this command is to make the robot move along the tool Z-axis in force follow mode. When running on 5.21, 5.25 and 5.26, the robot exhibits abnormal motion with stuttering and joint noise. This issue does not occur on 5.12.6 and 5.12.7. I have also tested with a UR5e robot and observed the same behavior.

That port has been deprecated for a while. I’m not really surprised that newer versions don’t behave the same way using it. You are intended to use the RTDE instead.

That is not a valid arm serial number. They start with the year of manufacture. The UR7e is really a UR5e so you can try to enter it as that.

UR7e produced in China really is some digital like 312657xxx,

for @834517981 very likely Poly 5.12 was not ready to identify a serial number that would be created in future. If it is the cause of 100% page locking, you can try my UR5e serial number (20205500065) in the booting page

at worst case it still not working, the price would be no bigger than changing back to your own serie#
