I would like to connect 4 buttons (and 4 diodes) to Tool IO thru Lumberg RKMV 8-354 cable, but there are only 2 Digital Inputs (and only 2 Digital Outputs). What is the easiest way to do it?
Should I use RS-485? Or maybe Analog Inputs? Any clue will be helpful

by using the RS-485 Interface you can extend the possible button range and also further features.
The downside here would be, that this means more development effort.
Alternatively, you could connect the buttons directly to the control box of the robot, where a wider range of IOs is available.
