Is he using EtherNet/IP? It’s a common misconception that EtherNet/IP is the same as TCP/IP.
EtherNet/IP is a data communication protocol such as PROFINET/MODBUS and should only be enabled if a device is connected to the controller and is communicated to/from by the robot.
EDIT: If he is indeed using that protocol, then the issue is somewhere on the other end, since there are no settings in the robot related to EtherNet/IP.
