Connecting a 12V Signal to the Tool Analog Input on UR20

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the tool analog input on the UR20. I am using a digital distance sensor that requires a 12V power supply, which I have connected to the tool power pin. The sensor’s output is a voltage signal that I have connected to the tool analog input (configured in voltage mode).

My concern is whether it is safe to input a 12V signal into the tool analog input, given that the specified input range is 0-10V.
Will this work reliably, or could it potentially damage the UR20?

Additionally, how does the analog input handle signals exceeding 10V? Will the input scale proportionally up to 12V, or will values above 10V be truncated/clamped?

Thanks in advance for your help!

According to the manual, the input should surprisingly be good for 26V.

So I would not worry. My best guess is that it will l just show 10V in the robot interface.

Thank you for your reply!
That sounds reasonable, and knowing that the input can handle up to 26V is reassuring.
