The MOVE function is active in automatic mode

Hi all!

How is this possible? Is there a way to deactivate it?

They have many UR robots, but only one is active in automatic mode in the MOVE menu.

That’s weird. Have you checked up on the software versions? Maybe it was made ot be like that in one version.

Cobot UR5e software version 5.23

We rescued this particular cobot from another facility where it had hardly been used. I restored it to its state from several years ago, for which there was a backup (5.13). I tried to update it in several steps, and it is currently running version 5.23. However, the same anomaly can still be observ

If it’s a severe enough issue, you may try just reimaging the SD card. Be sure to backup your programs first though

This device does some strange things. If I deactivate the mode switch password, I cannot switch between automatic and manual mode. The icon simply disappears from the display.

I don’t know how to perform a factory reset on the entire system.
I have backups of the system and the programs separately.

Very bizarre. I think I would go for a fresh OS install and see if that helps.

This looks wrong (update: actually, it’s probably right - see other post)

Two questions:

  1. Does it also happen if you make a new installation file and a new program?

  2. Does the robot have a TP with 3PE installed? If no, has it had that previously in its life?

Perhaps it would be possible to share an installation/program-file with us? If you don’t want to share it publicly, we can find a another way

The answer to your first question is yes. Even if I create a new installation file and a new program, or restore the system to its earliest known state (backup),

I removed the robot arm from an unused device. To my knowledge, there was never another teaching panel. I also have a complete backup of its condition at that time.

Since then, I have updated the system and it is being used for testing.

The answer to your second question is yes.
I registered all of our robotic arms on the UR website, but I was unable to download the factory default installation file to an SD card from the myUR interface.

I would like to understand why the device works this way. We have 20 UR robotic arms, but only this one has an anomaly.

Could the difference be that the robot has no Three-Position Enabling Device configured, but all your other robots have?

See this from the user manual section 15.3:

The three-position mode is not activated on any of the devices. There is no deviation in this regard.

I don’t understand, you want to block the move tab in automatic mode? I say that because I’ve never seen the move tab be blocked in automatic mode. The only exception is when you’re in remote control.

This is what I want to achieve—all of our other equipment works this way.

So it’s like @mry said, you have a configuration with a three-position enabling device.

Can you share the I/O tab of the robot whose the move tab is blocked?

Try enabling the 3PE setting and disabling it again.
