Safety Light Curtain Output

Hello, I’m setting up an automation in which the cobot manipulates a box inside a robot cage; when it’s done it is deposited in a conveyor and has to go through an opening in the cage. I need to add safety light curtains to this opening, but have no idea how to set them up as I’m not using any PLC and I don’t want the cobot to stop when the box goes through, but i don’t want people crossing the opening.

The curtains are a couple of Reer EOS4.

Thanks!

You will need muting of this light curtain. I don’t know the mentioned curtain, but you can look it up.
Most likely you will need some kind of safety controller to be able to mute the light curtain while the robot goes through. The robot will have to signal the controller to mute the curtain.

I’d advise you to contact your safety equipment seller (ReeR/SICK/Schmersal etc). They can very often help you with solutions for this.

+1 For the safety controller. Any time you’re trying to conditionally care about safety, you’re going to need a safety controller. We’ve used some pretty low cost ones from Keyence. The GC series maybe? I forget. But they are only a couple hundred bucks
