Error connecting UR5e arm to pc with ethernet cable

Hi,

I’m trying to communicate a UR5e arm with a PLC, but when I connect the Ethernet cable to my pc to check that the communication works with a ping command, the pc says that the destination is unreachable.

I don’t know if I have to configure the UR5e to accept the communication via Ethernet, please help.

Sorry, I forgot to say that I configured the correct IP direction on the arm, inside the same pc network.

There really isn’t much to it. So my best guess is you’ve used the wrong IP settings somewhere.
A few things to check:

  • Make sure EtherNet/IP is disabled in Installation → Fieldbus (people often enable it because they think it’s related to TCP/IP)
  • WiFi or other network connections are disabled on your PC
  • If you’re using a switch/router, try removing it. Some routers are known to not work correctly with UR robots (cause unknown)

Hello,

I don´t have router, only ethernet connection in my pc and EtherNet/IP is disabled on my UR. Although doing this, the communication still doesn`t work.

In the robot’s network configuration it says that the network is connected, but the ping from my pc doesn’t have response.

I followed the Profinet Guide - 20596 guide, and in the PROFINET section of the robot it has his name and IP configured correctly, but the connection is still in yellow mode.

What’s the IP address of the robot, the PLC and your PC?
When connecting your PC directly to your robot, you should be able to ping it, if it’s in the same subnet.

You will need a network switch to set this up. You have to be connected to the PLC, while the PLC is connected to both your PC and the robot. Then you have to assign device name according to the manual.
Did this work for you?

Also make sure PROFINET is enabled in the system settings of the robot. That might not be mentioned in the PROFINET guide (outdated).
You haven’t enabled PROFISAFE, right?

Hi,

I fixed the ping error between my pc and the robot, it was because my pc IP was 192.168.0.0, but I changed it to 192.168.0.20 and now it works.

Now i still cant connect the UR to the plc, I have a switch where i have 5 devices connected.

Where is the PROFISAFE option? Because I don’t find it.

I attach photos of my configuration, thanks for the help.

Delete this. You only use a gateway if you have a router:

Have you done this?

Hello,

I deleted the gateway, and yes I did that.

I attach you my configuration.
