Control robot through HMI touch screen

Hi everyone,

I need help/advice with the following: I have a UR10 in one of our machines for packaging. I already have an HMI controlling another robot which puts the products in these boxes. I want to have the control of the UR directly beside this HMI, but the cable of the teach pendant is too short for this, and I can`t reposition the control box.
Is there an extension cable available for the teach pendant, so I can place it where I want it, or is there a way to connect a touch screen HMI, from where I can control, start, stop the UR10? Like mirroring the teach pendant screen to this HMI.

Thanks for all the help in advance!

The robot supports VNC. So you can set up a VNC server in the UR and use a HMI that supports VNC connections.
You can search this forum for more threads regarding this.

Do I need some sort of extra programming to make this work? Or do I get the UR controls directly on the HMI?

A VNC client will mirror the screen from the server. You only need to set up the VNC server in the Linux operating system. It’s not too difficult. You will also have all control over the screen.

The easiest way is to connect the robot to the internet, and then everything can be done through the terminal. But read into this in the other threads.
