Hello,
I am currently in the process of documenting a multi-robot setup. This process is fully manual for now. Robots are backed up via usb, and documentation is generated with a mix of excel tables, plc-exports, pdfs and hand-written maintainance reports and changelogs.

Is there a solution that automates (some of) this?
I am especially looking for this functionality:

- compare Programs and positions from one backup to the next
- compare installation from one backup to the next
- backup via Local network
- export I/O names and states as tables (pdf and csv)
- generate reports

Ideally the solution would work without internet connectivity. But if its necessary that is okay as well.
I have seen some solutions but none of them really do what I need them to or have been discontinued.

Hey

I assume, you are searching for a solution for Polyscope 5?

On our Polyscope 5 solution we so far also work with manual backup which is okay as there is just rare changes. We have now a Polyscope X solution where there are quite few changes and we are super happy about the new Robot API. With that we could easily automate puling all urpx’ with a few powershell lines. We compare the files with the last pull and if they differ, we backup them with a timestamp. URPX File Format is super convienient, LLM’s can extract information from it to document.

With Polyscope 5 I would build an automated backup solution by using the SFTP server to pull them. Diffing would be limited to the “compiled” script files of each urp.. I have no clue how to compare installations as they only exist in the propietary format there.

You might have a look into existing URCaps, probably you are not the first one with those thoughts 🙂

Thanks for outlining the requirements. Are you mainly using PolyScope 5, PolyScope X, or a mixed fleet?

For the comparisons, do you need a human-readable report of changed waypoints and installation settings, rather than just file-level differences? Which part of the current workflow takes the most time?
